  1. Your mission is to identify additional ethical issues related to EC. Surf the Internet, join newsgroups, and read articles from the Internet.

  2. Two interesting terms in Internet terminology are flaming and spamming. Surf the Internet to find out more about these terms. How are they related?

  3. Enter google.com.
    1. Get a listing of industry organizations with privacy initiatives.
    2. Check out W3C's Privacy Preferences Project.
    Also, enter privacyrights.org to learn about privacy concerns.

  4. Enter nolo.com.
    1. Click on free law centers. Try to find information about the legal issues of EC. Find information about international EC issues.
    2. Click on lawstreet.com. Try to find information about international legal aspects of EC.
    3. Support the above with a visit to google.com or a search on Yahoo!.

  5. Find the status of the latest copyright legislation. Try fairuse.stanford.edu. Is there anything regarding the international aspects of copyright legislation?

  6. Enter ftc.gov and identify some of the typical types of fraud and scams on the Internet.

  7. Enter the Internet Service Providers' Web site (ispc.org) and find the various initiatives they take regarding topics discussed in this chapter.

  8. Check the latest on domain names by visiting sites such as netidentity.com. Prepare a report.

  9. Place an ad on the Internet and in some newsgroups saying that you want to buy something unique, such as the Brooklyn Bridge or the ship Queen Mary. Collect the responses and try to identify the type of fraud.

  10. In order to confirm what you can and cannot place on your Web site without breaking the copyright law, consult cyberlaw.com and similar sites. Prepare a report.

  11. Private companies such as thepubliceye.com and investigator.com act as third-party investigators of the honesty of your business. What do these companies do and why are the services of TRUSTe and BBBOnLine insufficient, making the services of these companies necessary?

  12. Visit consumerworld.org. What protection can this group give that is not provided by BBBOnLine?

  13. Visit consumerworld.org. What unique services are provided on this site?

  14. Find the status of fingerprint identification systems. Try bergdata.com and morpho.com.

  15. Download freeware from junkbuster.com and learn how to prohibit unsolicited e-mail. Describe how your privacy is protected.

  16. Enter scambusters.com and identify their anti-fraud and anti-scam activities.

  17. Enter nccusl.org and find information regarding UCITA legislation. Write a report.
